Skoda unveals new Superb

VAG's Czech company, Skoda, already released images of the new Superb, which is to be debuted at Geneva in March.

The car, which is based on the Passat, is larger in all dimensions except height and wheel base, which shrank 8 mm and 42 mm, respectively. Word is that the Superb will get a choice of three gas and three diesel engines combined with either a 5- or 6-speed manual transmissions or VAG's dual clutch DSG transmission.

Extra features include a version of Volkswagen's Climatronic climate control, parking assist system, and pivoting headlamps.

I also thought Renault about that rear end, and the side profile reminds me of Saab. Apparently, the new Superb will also be available as a wagon, this will undobtedly become very popular.

I don't like it. The front is just like a cheap passat rip-off (like the last one) and the rear is indeed just like the new renault laguna, which isnt pretty either. It has too much of a trunk which makes it look totally honda from the side, which means its dull and boring as well. With some fantasy the lower grill even resembles the peugeot grill... not something of a beauty either.

The first thing that hit me was: Renault.

I like the overall look of the car but I can't say it will really stand out in the crowd. It's a bit to "standard looking" for doing so.
