Hi all,

My names Mateja. I'm from Serbia originally, but live in Auckland, New Zealand. I own a VW golf mk2, love it :) Currently it's running a 1.8 8v, pretty stock. Paint is a Royal Blue metallic. Lowered by 60mm, wheels are 14x6. This was all done when I bought it. Only other mods are an awesome sounding stereo which I installed :), crystal clear front indicators, and an alarm, to keep it safe (hopefully  ). I've got some big plans for it, but no money as no job at the moment, so will have to wait till I find something. So, here's some pics:

Well, that's it from me, looking forward to my time here :)

Thanks for the comments. Yeah it is actually quite straight, I'm still quite impressed with it :). Luckily the guy I bought it from took really good care of it, and had it for quite a few years in his family before me. Only thing now is I need to change out the steering rack as it's leaking, will be doing that hopefully next week, weather depending.

Nice golf! Can you enlighten your 'big plans' to us? I'm curious, this golf has got some potention if it's in the shape it looks to be.

Well I'm planning on upgrading the engine, still somewhat deciding between swapping a 16v with weber carbs or just swapping a 2L bottom end into my 8v. I want to use this as my daily driver, so not going to be a racing machine, just would like slightly more power (even though it has a nice kick to it as it is), and an engine I'll be confident in occasionally taking to a track day. Looking to get around 150hp or so. Thats the big part, other things will include coilovers, and new wheels. With the wheels I'm looking to get some 15" corrado steelies widened. Would like to try to pull off a 8.5-9" width, but don't really want to do any work to the guards so may just go with 8s. I would like to get a set of RS's, but that may be some time away. Have also considered painting the top and bottom of the bumpers to match the car, which I will probably do and then if I change my mind I can just repaint I suppose. I guess what I want to do is not extreme, but for me it's something as this is my first real project. :)

Recently redid the lighting in my golf. Red LEDs in the switches and heater panel, Blue in the dome light and 2 blue LEDs as mood lights, and had blue LEDs in the cluster which I did a while ago. I chose this color scheme as it matches with my headunit.
Now looks like this:

The photos are over exposed though, they're not that bright.

You should. Was pretty easy to do, the switches took no more than 30 mins. The heater panel took a little longer, as I had to fit the leds etc. But I did it all in one night. Just be careful with the electric window switches, it's very tight and I destroyed one in the process. At least the lights work in it hehe.

Thought I'd update this as I haven't posted here for a while.
Got my steelies widened recently, rears are 8.5" et13 and fronts are 8" wide et20.
I mirror polished one of lips, will be doing the other 3 when I get some time. Hope to have them fitted soon.

are they widened with stainless rings? or are you going to protect the polished metal with some sort of laquer? looks good.

Thank you :)They were split and widened, what you see is the steel of the wheel. The plan is to clear coat them. I'm just a bit worried that it won't stick well, but I guess I have to try. No other options really, it's next to impossible to keep them out of the rain 100% of the time.

Wheels are all done and ready to have tyres fitted which should hopefully be happening in the next week.

On Sunday coming home from a small VW get-together my Golf got rear-ended.
http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff460/MaticVW/damage1.jpg
http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff460/MaticVW/damage3.jpg

Finished up today fixing it:
http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff460/MaticVW/repair1.jpg
http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff460/MaticVW/repair2.jpg

While I was at it I shaved the badge too. I couldn't quite get the original shape of the panel, so there is a bit of a gap between it and the bumper, as can be seen in the photo. But for how much it cost me to fix it myself I can't complain. The paint also needs a good wetsand and compund which will get done soon. Will eventually get a new panel welded it to properly fix it.

This week I also painted the door cards black:

I've been doing a lot to my little mk2 since the last time I posted here, got sidetracked and forgot to update. Sorry. I'll post pictures and let them do the talking.

I'm currently putting together a 2L crossflow 8v engine for it which will be using 40mm Mikuni bike carbs. I hope to have the swap done by then end of October.

I've also picked up an E28 which I turned from this:

The E28 will be getting some serious work done (respray, new interior, engine and gearbox swap etc..) once the major work with my mk2 is done.
