IRS 1 KIT.........................This conversion lowers the rear of your Type 2 about 3 1/2 to 4 inches and does require the short travel shocks for the best ride. Kit comes with special length "floating" CV axles, special IRS control arm clamps, brake cable extension tubes and the instructions to complete the conversion. NOTE : Requires an IRS transmission from a 1969-1979 Type 1 or 3, IRS control arms (complete with axle stub, bearings and brakes) from a 1969 to 1979 Type 1 or 3, Type 1 or 3 CV Joints and a few other items that you may have sitting around or at your local VW recycling yard. ........................................IRS 2 KIT.................This kit allows you 1956-1967 Bus to run at STOCK HEIGHT using the stronger 1968-1979 components. This system can handle the larger power plants that many customers are retro-fitting into their splitties. Kit comes with special length "floating" CV axles, modified 1968-1979 Bus control arms, special IRS control arm clamps (with appropriate urethaine bushings and hardware), trans nosecone gasket and the instructions to complete the conversion. NOTE : Requires an IRS Transmission from a 1969 to 1979 Type 1 or 3, Rear axle bearing housings (complete with axle stub, bearings and brakes) from a 1969-1970 Bus (if you want to continue with the large 205 stud pattern), stock spring plates from a 1968-1971 Bus, the large Allen Bolts from the IRS control arm connectors from a 1969-1979 Type 1 or 3. For stock ride height, you must also use Type 4 CV Joints and Type 2 Rear CV Boots with all hardware (we offer these as a kit), as well as "Thing" Inner CV Flanges (we offer Type 1 Flanges that are modified to accept the larger joint as a pair exchange).
