For the second year running, the Volkswagen Transporter has been voted 'Best Medium Van' in the Fleet Van Awards with the judges saying 'it excels on quality, durability, reputation and image and has real driver appeal'.

The award is all the more impressive because the Transporter not only beat all its popular rivals, but is also only weeks away from being succeeded by the new generation Transporter which arrives in UK showrooms in January 2010. This new van promises more refinement and a new range of Euro V engines as well as a new appearance.

For the remaining stock of the current Transporter, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has frozen prices of most of its Contract Hire and Finance lease offers, which still start from £229 a month, but added three years or 45,000 miles servicing, plus an 'S' pack upgrade. The three years or 45,000 miles service plan is also included for any Transporter purchased with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle finance.

Volkswagen's reputation for quality and durability rewards fleet operators with lower whole life costs thanks to stronger used values - especially for a medium-sized van like the Transporter. Fleet Van magazine said: 'In the used vehicle market the Volkswagen Transporter is a clear winner with astonishing residual values, even in a recession.'

The Transporter is a legend as both a new or used van, with the back up of our network of dedicated Volkswagen Van Centres.'

The Transporter is Volkswagen's best-selling van in the UK and globally. Over one million of the current model have been produced since introduction in 2003, and a total of over 10 million since production started nearly 60 years ago.
