Default What Food/Alcohol Should I Eat/Drink in Europe?

I really have only been to the south of France and London... never been to Norway, Denmark, Germany or Austria....

We dont get anything Cuban here in the states.... nor do we get REAL Absinthe... so those 2 items are high on the list... along with my all time fave rum... Stroh... only a few states actually carry Stroh 80 + every thing else stroh is NOT sold in the USA...

So... I love rum, love German Beers.... what food/alcohol should I really try?

thanks,
Paul

You should definitely try a:

Jaegerbomb (Jaegermeister und Red Bull)
or an Amaretto Coke!!!

And to eat... Come to Holland and have a Kroketje or a Frikandel!

And the Dutch Pancake. If you go to a Pannenkoekenhuis they can serve you a Pancake as big as a Pizza. And roughly the same topping as well.

There so big it's hard to eat one let alone more than one.

In Germany, obviously a wienerschnitzel but only in a tiny local bar. They realy do know how to make those.

Interesting question

Belgium beers. not that Heineken headache beer that you can also buy in the us by the way:
Palm or Jupiler.

Dutch good beer: Hertog Jan.

http://www.wagnerur.hu/itallap/pia14/hertog_jan.jpg

Or the Irish:
Murphys Irish Red

Guinness
http://www.collegian.psu.edu/blogs/...ad/guinness.jpg
but I think you know it.

French fries are a bit different in Holland and Belgium. the really big ones are called vlaamse friet (flamish fries)

we don't dip it in ketchup but in mayonnaise. there is also a difference between Dutch and Belgium/French mayonnaisse (that last one has more vinegar in it)

watch and learn
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIk-xp3F3kI

"Worstenbrood" (sausage-bread would be a translational) is something you can't find anywhere else I guess.

LOL, the first 10 seconds of this movie:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFdWDRuLUmk
they got them in the US dude!!

the things a regular dutchy misses on holidays:
-hagelslag (chocolate sprinkles)
-pindakaas (peanut butter)
but I'm sure you got this in the us too.

already mentioned:
frikandel:

or better, the frikandel special (with mayonnaisse, curry and unions)

or kroket:

and also the bitterbal witch is like a kroket but it's a ball.

there are normal krokets but also chickensaté and goulash.

with cream or vanilla sauce.
maybe you have seen it in Inglorious Bastards

Palm beer, Palm Royale:

Frikandel speciaal:

Friet speciaal:

All sorts of chocolat, way better than the junk Americans call chocolat:

Kriek beer, the best one I've tasted till now is the one Palm makes, or this one:

Mozzarella cheese with tomato. Add a little salt and pepper, a bit of olive oil or balsamico oil, and maybe some pesto:

Or you can put it on a baguette:
