Default B-pillar modification swallowtail

Last week I noticed a strange element on my 05/74 golf. It has smooth b-pillars and doors where my 02/75 golf has the normal pressings with some plugs in it. I was wondering when this was changed. Does anyone might know when? Where are these pressings for?

Please post pics of you b-pillar and doors to see if we can find the change (with VIN)
