I am in the UK I have a beautiful original MK2 GTi... I need a seat back.. the bolster is going on MY Driving side .... Can anyone get me a left hand drive passenger seat back to replace it... all English drivers seats are rubbish now.. Just the back rest is required..Trying to make the car concourse so a totally undamaged passenger seat back would be great.
Hears a picture of the material..and the seat which requires work
thanks

Same here, sorry I can't help you out with a new seat, but I really like the look of your GTI! Not many are left untouched like this! Maybe you can look for a couple of car recyclers in the Netherlands, and sent them an e mail. Or someone will come forward to help you out.
Best of luck.

Nice car !
It looks brand new :wow:
Enjoy it ;)

nice car, in showroom condition i guess... can't help you :(
i have 1 seat in this type of cloth, i don't think it has any damage but it is a bit dirty.
Wat needs to be immaculate: the cloth or the 'plastic' backside of the seat?

Sorry not neccesarily immaculate... I will clean it no problem. obviously an undamaged plastic and cloth combination would be easiest, I am looking for your passenger seat back rest,,, my side bolster cloth is furred up, not yet split..
I will obviouly have to pay for the whole thing to be delivered.. unless the cover can come off...
Mark H
the cover CAN come off, pretty easy too.. just a few clips on the bottom that hold them on.

The car is original. 34k miles 55k kilometers. The original owner bought it as it is in 1988 and garaged it with his ten other cars. An old lady bought it 1998 with 10k miles on the clock and abused it until it was rescued in 2008. all I do is keep it in a garage, keep it dry and clean a bit at a time, taking the waxoyl off the wheel arches, innerwings, engine bay etc was the biggest job..I have the original steel wheels but put on the 14" bbs. Hopefully have some bottletop alloys coming soon.
Never seen a golf that the wheel arches wont clean back to factory colour...top tip for you cleaners...
thanks again for your efforts... anyone know any german sites I could try for a seat???? I apologize for being a typical English language speaker.. I could try french but the French dont seem to speak the same french as me...

cleaned.be maby? perhaps I can ask a few local car breakers over here if they have a seat like the one you are looking for. I bought a similar interior a couple of years ago from one, and all seats were in good condition except fot the drivers site ofcourse...

thanks... the seats were almost as common as the rainbow...
if you are a bit handy i still might be able to help you...
we have 2 seats standing here: 1 driver and 1 passenger side. The driver side is made in the same cloth as yours, of the passenger side the middle is piece is the same type of cloth but in a diffrent colourscheme (grey, blue and yellow in stead of grey red and black). Maybe you can use the outer pieces of the passenger seat and stich in the center piece of the driver seat? I hope you understand what i mean:)

yeah? we sit in the left side of the car when we drive? :D
@ damien: that's it, it's new, stop fondling our foggy VW-brains with pics of it and tell were you have hid that time machine.
At Mice ,not allmost a brandnew car this is a brandnew mk2 :P ,i wanted to give a few Tips for Damien.Wrl first of all it is better to change the coolant fluid ,blue coolant fluid is a short and cheap use fluid, will give problems to corrosion and will damage stuff, my advise is to get the old blue one out ,than use the aircompressor to blow the old rest of the fluid out until motor is empty of the blue one, u can use the garden hose first to pull in fresh water and than blow the leftover water out, sound stupid but its true, than u go buy the RED Coolant Fluid the LL mix with G12+ the longlife fluid look here http://www.kroon-oil.com/nl/producten/catalogus/seg_aut/krwf/185/wegverkeer/kroon-oil-winterfluids/coolant-sp-12/ , when use this u wont have to wurry for corrosion or that sorts of stuff and u never have to change the fluid again in ur life, though u need to only ad the same red fluid and not use other sorts in it, it must be RED fluid only, never mix the fluids not even with water.
Well thats a good tip sinds this is a brandnew mk2 , and a second tip is to use another oil type for motor, if it was my car i would use the 10W60 Racing"oil full synthetic where 10 is the thickness of the oil wich is standard vw specs and where 60 is the viscosity of the oil u could say better performance in general.
Well i hope u like the tips
Btw i have a naughty question to :P where did u find the car and what did u pay for it?was the car allready totally new? am curious to know :)
Do you? Pretty dangerous dude!
lol hhaha in our family we do this :p,no i ment the right side lol, u are sharp :) i guess i forgot to ad we dont ride on the left side thats what i ment
Bumper83

If you use full synthetic oil in an old mk2, that's not going to work!!! This type of oil will damage your seals (crankshaft, camshaft etc) use only VW approved half-synthetic lube oils...
And for the coolant, if you feel the urge to replace it then I would pick the G12++ Purple/pink colored type. This is also what VW recommended to use in my '85 mk2 gti. With this coolant there's no chance of corrosion anymore. Advantage is that G12++ can be filled up by water!

So after all the effort still left with a slight dent and this, eventually decided paint was the only answer...

Did my research found a small but caring body shop all booked on the evening of my work whole bloody shop got burnt down.... Arrrg
On first body shop recommendation moved to another shop who did a superb job ,I know it's had paint but no one else seems to be able to pick it up , even the colour match is good.
No blending in needed...I can just say yes it's still original with a few car park dink touch ups
Got him back today, apart from the engine now being completely grey/primer dust coloured I am really chuffed with the finnish and especially the colour match, no need for blending into the adjacent panels :jackson: :jackson:
