Thanks for the warm welcome.

It's a 77 Fuel Injected L, 1.6L gas, 4spd manual, factory A/C, and 55k on the clock. I just picked it up about 3 months ago locally. Bone stock when I found it.

I rebuilt the steering rack and all the suspension bits are new. Went through the brake system. Added the OEM euro bumpers, 15x6.5 RS's, 165-45's, Weitec CO's.

Manual steering and brakes. No steering lock also.

The carpet on the dash is that a typical USA feature?

Marcski

aftermarket, to hide a sun-cracked dash or protect for

that interior is really *pimp* ..

What type of engine lies under the bonnet? I read fuel injected 1600, but also 1977, must be a GTI engine then? That does not match the single dial dash and the really basic steering wheel (which I like :D ).

Nice car!

in this case probably just protection. With the rest of the interior looking like that g cant imagine the dash being cracked.

I think he means the reflection of the sun Tjaap.
Is this available for MK2 aswell?

Stijn

No....somehow every dash in the US cracks due to sun exposure. It never happens in Europe, so it must be the Yanks using crappy plastics or overloading on Taco Bell gorditas.

Edit: Forgot to say, NICE CAR! I like how the US market VW's had all these funky interior colours.

As stijn mentioned for some reason alot of the us dashes crack. So these mats are very popular. Also for mk2 and even for new cars. Have a look on ebay.

typically dash mat or dash carpet mat.

You dont see them used much in the north east, but i see them used in the hotter states.

Yep... The dash is cracked bad. The dashmat is a US lame thing. It was there when I bought it and covers the cracks. I am in Las Vegas which is in the desert. The weather is mostly sunny and dry. It is common to see temps over 100f in the summer. The engine is correct for the US spec market.

Sorry for the crappy daylight interior pics.

Sweet car! Welcome man!

You don't happen to live anywhere near Adam, don't ya? Seeing Vegas isn't really THAT big. :D

Well I wouldn't complain over a cracked dash on a NV desert car, at least it means it's solid and rust free! I'd take a dry-n-hot car any day over a soaked-n-salted northern Europe rustbucket.
