A brand new Volkswagen California campervan, complete with pop-up roof, two double beds and a kitchen is the prize in a GMTV competition being run from next Monday, 24 May, until Friday to help celebrate The Camping and Caravanning Club’s ‘New To Camping’ campaign.
The popular ITV1 morning breakfast show is promoting the competition with a film presented by the celebrity interior designer, Anna Ryder Richardson showing all the California’s home comforts and the joys of camping, which was taken at The Club’s campsite in Thetford Forest, Norfolk.
The lucky winner will have the benefit of a unique vehicle that is designed to be used every day, yet allows them to escape for weekends or holidays when it becomes a real home from home complete with its own fridge, cooker, sink, two double beds and an electrically operated pop-up roof. In addition, the two front seats rotate to create a sociable lounge, while for al fresco dining there are two chairs stored in the rear tailgate and an outside table discreetly stored in the sliding side door.
Pricing for the Volkswagen California range starts from £39,965; yet the prize model is fitted with some desirable accessories including a roll-out side awning, a tailgate bike rack for up to four bikes, and optional alloy wheels which make it worth over £43,000.
