Hi there!
Glad you all like my cab-project :D
I will add this thread to my almost daily updates ;)
Regarding my tires. (Continental Contisport 165/45-15)
I got them some weeks ago after waiting for almost 1.5 month.
Got them from Germany, but it seems like I was lucky. Not easy to get them anymore.
I paid about €430 including shipping from Germany to Norway. Not bad at all ;)
They gave me that goodlookin`"german-stretch" :D

Nice combination, beige and brown. that's gonna look awesome!
beige and brown is sweeeet... the car too!! i even thought of that gasfiller idea once, but i'm not gonna use it... but, it's really original!!!
and uhm, your car can't even get any lower, so why you bought those things? will that even fit with the hood?
chrisjuh

Wow speechless.......
and uhm, your car can't even get any lower, so why you bought those things?
He said in the Norwegian thread that when he uses them, he can adjust the KWs up a bit and have some suspension in them, and still have an extremely low car.
well that could work indeed...
sorry for the criticism ;) super cabby!
but how is he going to solve the front and rear window to be closed for water when the roof is closed?
but how is he going to solve the front and rear window to be closed for water when the roof is closed?
The bar is removable ;) It is now in 3 pieces which I mount together.
When I close the roof, I install the bar again. Everything is in the the boot when the roof is open.
I have also solved the problem with the rear windows not being able to be rolled the hole way down.
When I open the roof you will not see any sidewindows at all ;)
He said in the Norwegian thread that when he uses them, he can adjust the KWs up a bit and have some suspension in them, and still have an extremely low car.
Yepp.. that`s right. I will still have 30mm ride-hight but I will have some suspension. But for show I will drop the car to the ground ;)
I have to modify both sides in front to make more room for the driveshafts :D
are you going to remove the rear windows or what did you do?
p.s. when you have to remove lots of things it's not really for every day use... i really hate it when i can't just sit down and start to drive...

First of all.. this is NOT a "daily driver" ;) It is a showcar..and for those VERY nice days :D
I am making a "snap-off" solution for the windows. When I have the roof open I just switch place for the windows and put them back on the car "upside-down" ;) It will take me about 2 minuts to "transform" the car....
Almost ready for paint!! :D
The painter is doing an awsome job with my car.. Can`t wait to see it with paint.

It is good that someone gives norwegian vw collectors and builders something to be proud of :)
oke, another point of criticism here:
why didn't you already cut out the metal behind your new gasfillercap? now you'll have to do it when it's painted right?
p.s. don't forget, i love your car :P
looking good! always love to read project stories..

There isn`t a problem modifying this after I get the car back from paint.
that's like pimp my ride, cutting in a freshly painted car... you could better take that piece of metal out now... but hey, who am I ;)
great car!
Finally!! Tomorrow my car is painted!!!!!!

The car was supposed to be finished today, for a show that was held today, but Laban had to postpone this one week, becuase of pollen allergy. Next weekend is the national "VW-Audi Club Norwegen"'s annual main meeting, so he just have to have the car ready next weekend!
Back in business!! :D
The doctor had a cure for my allergy probs.. last night I was working like a madman again..without any problems.

shame on you Michiel! Look at the C-pilar: that's no Derby (allthough they look very very similar)..
@ Topic: Wow wow wow wow.. you will need to sell those other cars to make room for all the trophy's you'll be winning.. and don't forget the bucket 'n sponge, to wipe off people's droooool..

Don't most airridekits regularly come with 'bagpipes'?

The rear uses aircylinders. This because of lack of space.

All pictures are back. I had to copy them from my old server. :)

Gotcha ;) I never sold the car. Just stored it at the workshop until my motivation came back.
:D

The roll-bar is removable. I split it and stuck it in the trunk when the roof is down.
And install it again when the roof is up ;)
Check earlier posts regarding this...
Long time since last update. I haven`t done anything since late 2005, but today I startet up this project again.

So.. what`s happening?
The next weeks I will do some big changes to this project.
- Motor-transplant (TurboDiesel engine)
- AirRide :D
I will receive my ariride within 2 weeks. I borrowed my friends airride today to check what I need to do for lowering the kit even more.

Don't even think about NOT updating us. :)
After I removed the engine I started cleaning the gearbox. As you can see... It need some TCL

I have to take it somewhere else to wash it with hot, steamy water :)

Later today I am going to pick up my new engine. :D

Engine in da house...
Today I went to pick up my new engine. It`s a 1.6L turbocharged dieselengine. It`s completely rebuild and tuned ;)
Should be fun driving later this summer =)
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC02897.jpg
I will not install the engine in the car before after the airride-installation.
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC02911_001.sized.jpg
I am going to modify the airride so I can drop the car to the ground.
This require some more modifications to make extra room for the driveshafts.
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC02920_001.sized.jpg
I am going to make two mods to the frontstruts. This will make them drop 35mm extra.
The rest of the extra drop is done by "lowering" the struttowers.

One of my friends visited me and he had something for me... the bra for my "dailydriver" =)

your daily cabs minted as well mate, :-)
I have been working on "KL-EEN 1" today
Almost finished making more room for the driveshafts. I should be able to drop it all the way now ;)
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC02940.jpg
I didn`t have any gas left for the welder, so it isn`t 100% finished yet.

http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC02943.jpg
I need to change the engine-mounts on my new dieselengine.
(The engine is from a Golf 2)
This is the mount on the TDK-engine:
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC02944.jpg
As you can see the mount from the old 1.8 is much shorter:
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC02945.jpg
I also startet looking for a place for the InterCooler.
But not much space ...
Some work done tonight.
I have ordered new carpets og door panels from US today.
Removed the interior and started the planning of the AirRide installation.
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC02966.jpg
Since the theme of my project is CLEAN, I am going to do a hidden AirRide install.
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC02969.jpg
After some brainstorming I think I will end up with something like this.
I have to wait for my kit to arrive before I make up my mind completly :)
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/air_skisse.jpg
With this install I can access all the components behind the backseat.
I will install a MDF-wall which will hide all the "stuff" when you look through the rearhatch.

Update..
Finally I got the last engine-mount :)
3 (!!!) hours later the mount was out of the old car. It`s not easy to remove this mount with the engine still in the car. :( But I didn´t give up ;)

Here you go KL-EEN!! :D

I will use this weekend to clean up and paint my engine. I`ll come back with more updates reagarding this.
What`s happening to my airride? IT`S IN EUROPE :D Yesterday it was in Germany. I should have it next week. Weeeeeee!!! :)
KOELN (COLOGNE), DE 28/04/2006 22:18 ARRIVAL SCAN
I was talking to UPS today, and they told me that my AirRide will arrive Thursday :)
First up tonight was to check how much I could lower the rear of the car without any modifications. I think this will turn out reeeeal good ;)
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC03067.jpg
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC03068.jpg
The engine will get some paint and shine this week. I haven`t desided what color I want on the engine, but I think it will be silver/grey.

Finally!!! Today the AirRide arrived!!! :) I am looking forward to install this next week.http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC03100.jpg
This kit is modified which means shorter front and rear-struts compared to the standard Golf/Rabbit-kit. ;)http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC03103.jpg
Here´s the frontstrut
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC03104.jpg
They also made a custom-bracket so I can drop the strut closer to the driveshaft. http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC03105.jpg
I think the car will be EXTREME low ;) Just as I like it ..!!
So if you check this thread saturday, you can see how low it got ;)

Todays update
I finished "tearing up" my dieselengine :)
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/motor3.sized.jpg
Now it is ready for some cleaning and paint. (Sorry for some out of focus pictures)
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/motor2.sized.jpg
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/motor.sized.jpg
This is the plans for the engine
- Beige engine bay
- Completly black engine
- Kl-een`ing of the engine bay
- Install a hidden InterCooler (in front of the radiator)
- Hide all cables etc.
Painting the engine
Well, todays task was to paint the engine.
After some good cleaning the engine was ready for some black paint :)
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC03174.sized.jpg
And the result when I left the garage tonight.. back in black

Postman Pat came today.. all the way from Germany :)
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC03189.jpg
And what did he bring me?
Finally!! My new "strut-towers". Some major mods at the garage .. ;)
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC03190.jpg
I also got this. :)
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC03191.jpg
very nice project keep up the good work!
Modifying the strut towers
Tonight I started to modify the strut towers.
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC03226.jpg
First I cut 20mm of the old tower. I used a DREMEL tool for best control :)
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC03227.jpg
Then I cut the new towers. I cut them 50mm and that gave me 30mm extra drop ;)
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC03244.jpg
After some adjustments it was ready for welding. I am doing this tomorrow.
So stay tuned folks :)

Thanks. It is ALOT of work, but the result is
Yep, that IS a very smart solution for that extra inch of drop. Never thought of that, good thinking.
LOWRIDER!!
Tonights goal was to finish the tower modification and get the ride down on the wheels again... I made it so keep on reading ;)
The last tower was removed.
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC03253.jpg
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC03260.jpg
Welded some points just to be able to adjust later if something was wrong.
This angle shows how high the strut is now.
http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/kleen1/DSC03274.jpg
Then I had to install the suspension and the wheels.....

I know. That`s the reason it took me some hours just to cut the towers. ;)
Everything is looking just fine so I don`t have to adjust anything. :)
I think the mod came out very nice. I got the drop I wanted with it.
Now I only have to modify the frontstruts for those last mm drop ;)
Todays update..
I continued working with my engine tonight. Washed and sandblasted some parts.
