Installed the radiator today with a fabricated upper brace. Went to the parts store and got a handful of hoses that might work. All I had to do was bend up some 1 3/4" aluminized exhaust tubing to run from the water pump and under the engine to the radiator.

Installed two transmission coolers. One is a heatsink and the other is fan cooled. I plan to tow with it and the transbrake also creates a lot of heat when you launch with it.

The fans will blow air through the Radiators, or will the suck air through them?

They will suck air through. There is also a fan for the engine compartment itself, which will pull hot air out

Sorry for the lack of updates. I have taken a bit of time to get the good V8 swapped into my Daihatsu Hijet Micro Truck so that I can keep it on the road.

I managed to get some work done on the Single Cab. I pulled the distributor and spun the oil pump to prime the engine. Also started installing the carburetor but had to order a few parts to finish it up.

Carburetor is installed and plumbed as is the fuel filler neck and charcoal fume canister is also plumbed. Started on a wiring harness today.

Making a wiring harness is slow tedious work, but I have managed to make some progress. I started at the back of the truck and have worked my way to the back of the cab.
Wired so far: tail lights, reverse lamp, tag light, back up camera, trailer connection, gas tank sending unit, radiator and transcooler fans, trans brake, distributor 12v and tach, electric choke, all gauge leads, alternator, starter and thru bulkhead connections on the rear cab wall ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The harness is made using diy plug connectors and wiring looming. The harness disconnects in key locations as well as from the back of the cab for easy removal. My Youtube page My facebook page |

Got something done on several things today.
Routed the negative battery cable in conduit under the cab, but ran out of clamps ![]() Stripped the original seat frames of what was left of seat covers. Went over everything with a wire wheel on an angle grinder and sprayed them with some rusty metal primer. ![]() Rough cut some sheet metal to fill in the inside of the rear fenders. Going to roll some beads into them and then weld in. The wiring harness is finished and installed.
The steering wheel is finished up. I called the local upholstery shops, so far one returned call out of 3. My one response will wrap it in leather for $120. It is a lot of work, but not sure how good that price is. Waiting to hear from the other two. I removed the quick release hub, as it was way too sloppy. Also welded in a mounting plate to bolt on a spinner and avoid the typical lousy fit. ![]() Also finished up the rear sway bar install. I was having a bit of a clearance issue with the bar and the gas tank but solved it by modifying some factory sway bar link bolts. They have a very thin but wide head but had to machine off a large shoulder to fit my application. Original on the left, modified on the right. ![]() In place ![]() http://www.BenModified.com |
