mk2 Jetta 2005

most of us know the Chinese Jetta's and all their cool little parts that are so impossible to get...

now guess what.. there's yet ANOTHER faclift... check these pics i got from Cullen.

lots of new bodyparts, but it still def is a Jetta..
not sure about the trunk, but i def love the rear bumper....

Tjaap 25-08-2004 21:54

oh yeh, notice the previous Jetta King, in the background of some of the pics

Lennart 25-08-2004 22:13

hm about the same thing they did to the Citi-Golf.. olny a little more futuristic :D

vwleusden 25-08-2004 22:18

I want the dash :)

Volkswouter 25-08-2004 22:19

Noticed the later style corrado dashboard in the polo.

I don`t find it a beauty!

Beetlefreak 25-08-2004 22:32

Hmmm. What kinda Passat/Vento/Santana/Jetta car is this...

Don't like it, but for Tjaap's Jetta there are a few nice details :D

PerL 25-08-2004 22:46

I like it! I like it even more than the Santana 3000!

RedJet 25-08-2004 23:02

I want that rear bumper!!

Chrispy 26-08-2004 03:29

i`ve got a sexy red x on tjaaps post....?

Lennart 26-08-2004 10:00

nope they still work..

nice boot on the passat look-a-like jetta :D

Dreadz@EVDTuning 26-08-2004 16:51

I like the look of it (well minus the front). I wouldnt mind getting the interior for my Jetta. The rims on the new King are kinda hot too. Shouldnt the dash be a direct swap?

Skooty 26-08-2004 23:08

the front looks just like a Saab... trunk could have been a bit shorter in my opinion, rear lights also look kinda cheap (= asian, would expect them on a Kia or something) I think, so: me not like :P
Although the dash looks ok

Chrispy 27-08-2004 06:13

now these are nice lightunits, and that lid, should fit directly on your car Dutchy.

Pedaalemmer 27-08-2004 06:29

i don`t get it....is this an orginal facelift from the volkswagen factory?..why are they restyling an old jettta...is missed something i geuss....

Tjaap 27-08-2004 11:13

nah i don't like those light-units.. i do like the centerplate. but they only work with the lights :(

Tjaap 27-08-2004 11:15

well Henk, yes they still make the Jetta in China... and why not? thy have all the molds so it's cheap to fabricate. just like they still make the mk1 in south africa and the beetle (up untill last year) in Mexico

Pedaalemmer 27-08-2004 11:46

*crowls underneeth his rock*

so...when can we buy parts from these cars:D:D

what are the sale ratings on these cars? and does anybody speeks chinese?:D

Tjaap 27-08-2004 11:51

Eurocullen sells most of the stuff... but most works with groupbuys, because he needs to buy big from china...

david_h 31-08-2004 10:05

VW sold the rights to old models and the plans to a chinese company who are now re-producing them.

Be warned, the parts will never be up to VW quality, they are produced by a completely different company!

Pedaalemmer 31-08-2004 10:10

if it`s not from volkswagen, they can keep it in china...

VolkswagenRacing 31-08-2004 10:16

Interior is cool,
And I like the mirrors :P

Tjaap 31-08-2004 12:13

according to Cullen the mirrors do not swap out..

Tjaap 21-11-2004 18:19

There is a Golf 5 in the Norwegian VW-Audi club who has this badge on the rear end. Kinda cool, I think.

Tjaap 21-11-2004 20:18

yeh, Cullen sells the badges too... they were all over w-see last year.. kinda played already

DÁ-BRT 30-12-2004 00:31

Hmmm strange but nice....

I wonder if it is possible to export the front fenders, motorhood, front and rear bumper...?

VWMAN 30-12-2004 10:25

i like citi golf and and like this also....

Tjaap 10-02-2010 17:04

guess what... another update

breadfan83 10-02-2010 17:16

Oh, they shouldn't have.... no really.... :sly:

Tjaap 10-02-2010 18:21

i don't mind the mk6look front, but the rear is terrible... looks almost home-made..

Tjaap 16-02-2010 01:31

The tooling was shipped over from the USA in 1988 or 89, as mentioned. They started building stock lookalikes in 1991 (same year the Mk3 came out in Europe).

The Jetta King with the B4 Passat front end came out in 1995 ( a year after the B4's debut in Europe). It used the same Mk2 body with different bumpers, fenders, and a front end tacked on. Tail lights were slightly different but swappable. Dashboard was a modified Corrado unit. Basically all superficial mods.

(you can see the rear at the top of the pic too)

In 2004 the new Jetta King came out (I think this is the same year they discontinued the basic Jetta model which was still being made). The new King had different basic frame stampings to accommodate China-specific things (like the tail lights, seals, etc).

Now in 2010 we have the new model :)

Archiebald 16-02-2010 13:07

OMG, this is really funny... For us at least, we don't have to buy this "things"

Mitta 15-04-2010 19:16

I like the dashboard and the doorcards, only the steeringwheel is a little ugly...

Dutch_Jetta_GT 09-05-2010 20:04

Am i the only one who appreciates the chinese Jetta's?....

I like the current front end, makes a good old car going further in a fresh shape, rear is a bit to think about, but still, not very fugly,..

I don't mind receiving 1 for free to sit on my driveway.....

Tjaap 09-05-2010 21:14

same here, love the new front.. hate the rear

J.v.G 24-05-2010 19:41

same here.. and kinda love the interieur.. :D

DÁ-BRT 18-08-2010 21:54

I travel a lot to China for work. Have been to the VW Shanghai factory about 1.5 years ago.

Trust me every part is made in China. All the Santana's are with a complete plastic interior instead of cloth.

I made some pictures of the cars I saw there. Going again in a couple of weeks and make some more pictures.
