the ultimate dash swap.

58 Karmann Ghia Dash

René 14-03-2005 23:26

cool!

vwleusden 14-03-2005 23:42

Cool

I thought about a dash from a 1300 in a mk2... just for fun. The steering wheel from a 1300 fits in a Golf <88

Never knew that it fits... Love the dash.... I hope he fits a Type 1 Radio :D

Driving it like the STIG :p

Mixagolf1 15-03-2005 07:54

Only the steering wheel from 74-up fits, I tried fitting the GTI wheel from an 83 in a 68 Bug, and it doesnt fit there.

arnus71 15-03-2005 13:37

Those are pretty nice seats, like the red!

polopower 15-03-2005 19:20

Also a way to stiffen up your car. Not sure I like it yet. Looks to me the dash is up too high/too small because now you're looking in a huge void. But I do kinda dig the view from the outside through the front windshield though.

LRR 17-03-2005 22:14

And Rene is afraid that his old-style MK1 dash wouldn't fit in his Blue/Brown machine..............................duhhhhhhhhhh :p :p :p :p

Grtz................ LRR

i think a small steering wheel will take away that prob cause small wheels always make the dash look kinda far backwards anyway.

Big_Mac_Mark 15-04-2005 12:39

I likey likey!

oldschool_lover 15-04-2005 12:53

Very exclusif

vwgolf1 30-07-2005 19:56

thats allot of fitting and cutting i gues, real nice

Tommy 30-07-2005 20:00

and how do we blow the windows?
cool idea, that's for sure...

Jurgen Santana 30-07-2005 20:03

Make some airholes in the dash.

thare's a "gleuf" in the metal here

René 30-07-2005 20:10

i think that`s for a mono speaker :)

when you have an APK, you can put a universal blower on your dash...

it doesn`t matter HOW you blow the windows... :)

Marcski 30-07-2005 20:23

no silly, he was talking about the envelope-like slot above the right windscreenwiper axle

Tommy 30-07-2005 20:54

My bad, now I see it. It's something with envelopes... I just don't want to see them. :p

Scott@DATR 15-02-2006 16:55

wow, that is really going to the next level.... I love it!

Pedaalemmer 20-02-2006 17:59

don`t like the swap..but it`s impressive to see how he fills up the gabs.

Is it the same golf as the first post??
IMHO there's a beetle dash in the last pictures (one counter in the middle), and on the first pictures you see an early KG dash.
Can't imagine that the owner rebuild the KG dah into a beetle dash??

Tjaap 02-01-2008 19:58

the first one is def american.. now i know americans love german plates, but i don't think it's the same one.. fooled me too for a sec..

M.I.V.W 02-01-2008 23:09

ive seen the beetle dash mk1 on technoclassica 2 years back,it is a german.

phaeton 03-01-2008 08:08

Now this is a wicked mod I love it :D

Gallagher 15-01-2008 19:36

a.busser 15-01-2008 20:05

Tjaap 02-09-2012 13:55

another follow-up on an old thread...

He had it for sale in 2011, but i'm not sure if it ever sold. Paul, you seem to know him.. Does he still have it?

Esher 03-03-2013 21:23

That's my friend Jay's Mk1 in Philly, it's been on his back burner lately due to him building this.

Tjaap 05-03-2013 23:04

impressive!

Esher 06-03-2013 15:18

He's an engineer, you should see the exhaust/turbo manifold :screwy:

He since sold his beetle and the E30 but is saving the Mk1 for a project to build together with his son.

Tjaap 06-03-2013 15:26

How old is his son, Cause i could use an update :)

Btw. send him to this thread...

Esher 08-03-2013 15:13

Young, maybe 3
