otti´s wörthersee 2012 thread
 

hi guys

i am starting my thread right here and now for you.

tomorrow morning i will start to make it from Bergen in Norway through 3 countrys and a couple of stops along the way in my attempt to make it to the wörthersee in austria.

there will ba loads of pics wich i will comment and post in bundles of 10pics per post, i just hate it when the side takes forever to load. there will be a lot of car pics a little later in the thread when i make it down there.

it depends a lot if i can make it to register the mk1 you know in my 2 days in berlin where i am going to stop to register it again and pick up my MOM. no laughing matter here, i promised my mom to invite here this year to a vacation, so she has to stick with me and see some cars, if i break down in the mk1 she will be my tow vehicle in the mk IV.


there is a lot of driving involved here and thats no laughing matter since my mkIV does not have a curuise control...

anyway, i dont really know where i will have internet connection to upload the pics so there could be some breaks until i reach wifi again. i hope you like my efford :hug:

i will start tomorrow with the ferry from bergen/norway to hirtshals/danmark (i got a good discount and this makes it cheaper than to drive)
i am here atm


the mk IV is packed and checked, i didnt refuel because fuel is cheaper in danmark







wish me luck for my journey, i can use it after the bad luck streak i had in the past months :driving:

updates!

the epic journey has begun!!
started off friday mornig with the ferry from bergen/norway to hirtshals/denmark




















i reached hitrshals at 7:15 in the morning on saturday filled up the car and started driving



if someone can do the job and follows my fuel consumption and money payed for fuel with the help of a currency converter that would be awsome!

on the bottom right you see how much is left of the trip that day

speedlimit in denmark is 120-130km/h which i kept the whole way and made good progress

but then
the border to germany


which meant
RAISE THE CRUISING SPEED


went through a tank of fuel in 550km
so i needed to fill up again


my goal was to reach a average speed of 115km/h inclouding stops and a fuel average of about 9l/100km


on these (unlimited) roads i found myself doing 180km/h sometimes and i still got parked by all the big diesels usually passats and e-class mercs which usually do 220km/h all day every day..




i reached my feoncees place ahead of schedule





of cours i brought her flowers!
she was happy

next day

since my feoncee needed to go on a 24hour shift at work i decided to go over the border to get some stuff, booze and cigarettes for cheap
this is the river "oder" wich is also the border to poland

i drove off to berlin






where i found my mom alraedy buisy baking and cooking for the cakes and her speciallity soup wich we are going o take with us to our friends in bavarya tomorrow.



later today i am gonna drive back to spend a little more time with my feoncee and tomorrow we are haeding south to BAYERN!!

so the car was loaded with tons of car parts clothes and my mom ready to set off to bavaria
i drove already from my feoncees place to berlin and we hit the road some more

there was a gazillion flys so the car looked like hell shortly after

i forgot to post that i refilled in poland for 70euro that fuel lasted almost to munich




there is just one way to go over 180000km on the car wich is with a speed of 180km/h







finally the ALPS in sight




we reached our destination


my buddy Ha Pe and his little son, we are staying here in their house


we brought some gifts for the 2 boys

we drunk until everyone passed out and i have no memory of how i came into my bed....

only problem is they poke a little to much so the sliding door does not open completely


we had a traditional bavarian breakfast with white sausages and white beer




time to chill


we took a boat tour to the royal palace here but i couldnt take many pics since it was not allowed to take pics inside














tomorrow our journey countinues down to austria where i will take a a mad amount of car pics, i guess thats what you are waiting for?!

today is the make it or break it day, i have to register the mk1 here in bavaria even tough i am not a citisen of bavaria.
if they dont allow me to do so i will go with my mom in the mk4.

the mkIV got a upgrade today, you may have read about my bad luck in my engine build up thread and i really would like to have 18" on the mk IV but since the tires are brand new i needed to opt for the 17" which i think look too small but they replace the f**ked up rims i had.
HaPe put the empty old rims on the balancing mashine and said every single one of the empty rims would have to get 45g of weights on them so here are the new rims for the mkIV




we did a trip up on the mountains, i just post a few pics










Ha Pe and me walked up while the rest took the lift but we walked down all together that crazy steep hill


we where exhausted and went chillin at the beachbar on chiemsee




it was a very nice day, wish me luck with the registration!

He made it. And so did the mk1. Too bad for us he only arrived on our last day so we didn't get to spend time with Otti but I met his mom and thanked her for last years cake. He didn't find a hotel yet though so I hope he got that sorted.

so here we go..
after spending the morning succsessfully registering the mk1 we began to drive to the "see"
first i ran into some problems with too litle coolant but mom drove to the next supermarket and got some bottles of water to fill up the radiator...so we hit the road
















i could not figure out how to set the cam for moving night shots, because the tunnels are spectecular

we made it to the mk1 meet a little late but we made it!!!!!!



this is the last trip report commented in a long time to come, i will post ALL car pics i didnt delete in packs of 10 pics per post
