Any suggestions on what is wrong?
 

my 1989 mk2 1600 driver doesnt want to cold start, it will start but is very spluttery on the idle and often dies when idling, but if you try and drive through the spluttering as soon as the needle on the temp gauge has moved, even slightly it will run sweet as a nut, the whole carb unit has been replaced and the choke has been looked at and it still does this, its obviously either flooding or starving the petrol in my not in any way professional opinion but who am i to say!?!

any suggestions as to whats wrong and how to fix it?? is this a common problem?
