No, it's a Brasilian VW Parati, sold in USA as the VW Fox Wagon. It is the wagon version of the VW Gol, was based on the Passat/80 B1 chassis, but as it is shrunk a little bit it is known as the BX1 chassis. There was also a Sedan (Voyage in Brasil, Fox in USA) and pickup (Saveiro).

It was never sold in Europe.

PerL 23-03-2008 17:09

Cool! Of course there are a few examples around Europe, but VW never sold it here.

If you have any questions let me know....I took pics too. I'm planning on buying the brown truck pictured and a white South African right hand drive model also on the property. Unfortunately the right hander is heavily damaged but can give up some of its parts to make the brown one better.

smeerpeer 24-03-2008 11:09

Thanks Perl for the detailed info!

Come again? A South African made VW now located in Texas? That's a pretty rare find!

Tjaap 24-03-2008 21:42

i think it's just a RHD Caddy doesn't look to be a south african model (unless they added the newer grill later) probably made in Yoegoslavia like most caddy's. then again.. it is RHD and in the US, so pretty damn rare just for that.

I know it sounds nuts guys but the tags on the core support have S.A. all over the place...whether or not it's just an added tag or what they are there.

PerL 25-03-2008 19:24

You wouldn't happen to know the VIN of this Caddy? That is the only way to tell for sure.

Cub 26-03-2008 00:14

The only tag I got a picture of was the one in the door jam for tyre pressure. Will post in a little while. Does look to be eastern european language.

Cub 26-03-2008 01:46

Here's my only tag picture. Anyone recognize the language?

RubenD 26-03-2008 01:50

That's South African for sure. Comes closes to dutch but has a lot of "flaws" therefore I know it is SA on that sticker!

Tjaap 26-03-2008 13:50

yup, that's South African...

Azza 27-03-2008 22:01

Yes indeed it is south african, its written in Afrikaans, believe it or not we still make the caddy and it sells for roughly 9000-00 euros brand new.
