As promised, here's a pic post of my recently acquired 1984/1981/1982
rabbit diesel L 2 door, aka lellolapin!=)
On paper it's a 1984... but the door jamb sticker says 1981 - so it
was either sold as a 1981 or 1982 model.

(who cares)
Went browsing at a local shop with a friend who was scoping out
potential Type 2 Bus projects and I fell in love with it on the spot.
lol
Paid a fair price & negotiated that labour for the installation of a
new windshield, once I source one, be included.
Specs I know:
1.6L diesel
5spd
new clutch
makes me hard (but that may just be the good vibrations of a cold
diesel :laugh
Here's the pics I snapped before I bought 'er:

Here are the pics I snapped during the better part of 3 days I spent
cleaning 'er up: note - I made a trip to Cambodian Tire for lights :P
and
had to go thru a number of wobbly pops... oh, and there's
some wicked shots of the penecilin2 that was growing under the
passenger seat

as well as before and after cleaning pics that
show the amazingly powerful combination of Simple Green and Mr. Clean
Magic Eraser.
Before the pics, just a bit of commentary:
PO cut 6x9 holes in the parcel shelf

- ah well, will have to get some cheap garbage speakers... :P
the door jambs & hatch jamb are among the most improved parts

Future plans on the cheap:
passenger side trim
passenger side doorhandle trim
passenger side rear fender flair
picked out a set of hubcaps that are going to be
THE hotness

planning on dyeing/spraying every brown interior bit black
new black makeshift headliner
might sawzall a couple inches out of the too wide bench seat to make it fit - as it's currently worthless to me anyways, though in good shape
new steering wheel
horn that works lol
new steering column shifter switch contact(s) as ya gotta hold the signal stalk 1/2 down to signal left lol:p
k&n air filter
etc
Post Script:
I was able to produce this thread relatively quickly compared to previous ones I've done up. How?
Tested pic size in testing forum
Used irfanview to scale, label, rename & strip pics to small filesize
Used a lot of ctrl+v & ctrl+p
Tried to use excel to extrapolate a list of sequential filenames, but gave up as figuring it out properly was taking too long vs copying, pasting & renumbering quickly.
Composed this badboy in a text file so that vortex can't eat it when i click submit.:P
hope you enjoyed 'er!
cheers,
