How would they do it?

Well, when you're working with a 16-cylinder, quadruple-turbocharged engine, you can always find some room for improvement. Apparently, the engine is indeed capable of much more than the 1001 PS (736 kW) it produces in its current configuration. Or maybe they'll just get the added 200 hp by dropping an extra 2.0 liter TFSI power plant from the Golf GTI into the engine bay.
