Why using a ball joint beam ??
Everybody knows that a link pin axle will give you more drop without the risk of knocking down
the BJ's and -worsed case scenario- crashing the car.

I liked your Mk1 convertible very much, but I don't think you will turn more heads with the beetle.

I use long travel ball joints and drop spindles. The pan hits the ground before the ball joints stops.
I also flip the tie rods so make sure that I don't get a steer lock while driving.

I know that my old MK1 got more "WOOOOW" than this project.
But I still think the result for me will be the same.. I got the car just the way I want.
The look of the beetle will be more raw/brutal than the KL-EEN 1 project

*Update*

Tonight I changed all my ball joints with the "long travel" that I got with the air ride.

Blasted the "new" short axel tubes end prepared them for primer.

Two coats later with primer..
Ready for black paint tomorrow
