Default PuttenMKII - Netherlands

Hello everybody,

I already introduced myself in the Dutch Forum, and here I am again!
My name is Bernhard, and I am from the Netherlands.

My car is a ’85 VW Golf 2. The car was bought by a dealer by my grandfather. He had the car for about 17 years. Unfortunatly, he passed away and my grandmother didn’t drive the car anymore because of the powersteering, or better: the lack of it!

After that the car stayed in the family and then I got it! ( yeeh yeeh yeeh)
The current mileage is 106.000 km.. ( about 65.000 miles)

Here is a picture of me when I was about the age of 5 with my Golf:

When I got the car in 2009 it looked like this:

Because I am a student I told myself I wasn’t lots and lots of money on the car, but the VW virus is getting the better of me .. Still no BBS rims and stuff, but just decent mods.

When I got it, I put in some audio. HU, speakers front and back and a subwoofer.

In the beginning I didn’t want to change to much on the car, so I started with rims and giving the bumpers some fresh paint:

Golf with demounted bumper + rims

Freshly painted bumpers + I also mounted GTI rearlights

After a while the frontgrill bursted, so a new one had to replace it. I wanted something different so I choose a single headlight grill.

Then some small changes, a centerconsole and a wax.

After a while I removed the NL sticker on the back:

The GTI rearlights had to make place for red-white ones.

Then I went to VW Outlaws, a VW meeting in the Netherlands. Some rolling shots and a collone movie 

Also US Lights and a VW sticker

In january I bought a springcoilset ( right? )

Then,
My reartires began to wear out, so I started looking on the internet and found a set of wheels with 4 fresh tires, so bought that..

In front of old wheels:

And this is how my car is at the moment:

My uncle’s company..

My plans are licenseplates with thick letters and a original hoodboard.

That was me and my car, see you on the forum! 

Coilovers I really love the history this car has.
Too bad my granddad drove an Astra (which my mom wrecked within months after inheriting it)

Thanks!

That's just it. Everybody on every forum hates the chrome doorshell, but I love it 'cause it reminds me of my grandpa, and it is unique!

After the winter I'm going to mount 15" BSX with black heart.
Really hope that turns out well, i have some questionmarks with the color of my car haha.. I also want to mount the original headlights again.

Here are some new pictures for our international readers.
I removed the rearwindow wiper

At the moment the car still drives, but the carburettor is giving me a hard time! I'm looking for a new Golf 2 with a injection motor to replace the old carburettor.

Also, I don't like how the car handles, way to rigid for me. So I bought Koni springs, which will lower the car 60 / 40 compared to original. Still need to be mounted though.

When that is all done i have some small updates in mind to freshen up the car, exteriorwise.

And then i guess some nice wheels and a cool interior!
