Here is a brief description of how this Passat B3 RS2 conversion was accomplished
As described by Phat Matt himself:
After trying to fit the entire Audi front end (not even close), I had to start mixing parts to get something to work. The B3 hood is short because of the trim piece on the nose (the big plastic nose which was going to be history), so I needed something that went all the way to the headlights and grill.
The Audi hood doesn't have the right curve to meet the fender lines so I tried the B4 hood which goes all the way to the grill and it fit perfectly.
Then I cut the nose section off the front of the Audi 90 hood and welded it to the front of the B4 hood after lining it all up carefully. I smoothed it out, first using green fiber-filled Bondo and then regular filler.
You have to use the B4 core support because of the hood latch placement on the B4 hood, plus it doesn't have the huge restrictive center support where you want your grill to be like the B3 core support had.
In order to get the RS2 headlights to work, I needed the line at the outer edges of the lights to match the fenders, so I cut the ends off of the Audi 90 fenders and welded them to the front of the B3 fenders, then filled and smoothed.
I left about 1.5 inches of space outside of the headlights to make a driver's side cold air intake like the early race Quattro's had. I molded a vent on the airbox side that shot cold air into the box.
I made custom brackets for the headlights and put them in. Wiring for the headlights included up-rated relays for the hi and low beams and a flip-flop relay so that I could use the corner lights as blinkers that would blink alternately with my side markers.
Dat hebben ze mooi gedaan....
