Much nicer line now in my opinion

The other nice thing done was the installation of carpet and the use of some nice Maserati leather seats. The cool thing here is that because of the bracket fabrication and placement the seats at first glance appear to be floating off the floor of the car...very cool

This is without a doubt the most pushing the edge project car I have ever been a part of, will definitely go places. The Captain as we call him is so happy this Jetta that was saved from the junkyard is being well recieved especially among the european Dubbers, I have sent him these links and I hope he will post replies to this, but since he is not too computer savvy it may be awhile. I have sent this link to other members of our club in hopes that they will post additional pictures that I do not have

Cool car. Nice to see someone thinking outside the box
I am the Captain, builder of the Cooljet. It is great to see the positive reception that the car has gotten in Europe. I thought that I would give you folks and little background in to the concept for this car. Having grown ip in the 50's I was able to be part of the golden era of hot rodding. One of my favorites was the shoeboxes Fords and Mercurys (49-54) and espically the business coupes. So when I found my Jetta in the salvage yard I new what I wanted to do with it. Build a traditional mild custom by combining the design ques of the old masters and incorporating period parts into Cooljet. My concept was to make Cooljet different without losing the original design. So with that in mind I thought that I would go through the modifications and let you know where the parts came from. So here goes.
Grill area:
Handmade radiator support moved back 2", handmade grill opening,
headlight rings are 65 Lincoln Continental while the headlight buckets are
handmade using parts from a 74 VW 411, Grill is 5/16" perforated with a
handmade center bar and a 57 VW emblem
Front Valance:
Handmade using the center section from a 2006 medium duty Freighliner
truck sectioned to fit, the parking lights are 50 Buick back up units
Front Bumper:
Bumper came from a 89 Chrysler New Yorker (rear unit) It has been
sectioned to fit and brackets fabricated
Front Fenders
Side markers have been shaved, driverside has a frenched antenna made
from exhaust tubing and the passanger fender has fresh air intake which is
a hood louver taken fron a 41 Diamond Reo truck
Doors:
All four doors have been shaved of all trim, the front doors will have locks
taken fron old Coke machines. The recesses for the locks are freeze plugs
Quarter Panels:
Quarters have had the upper swedge line removen and the lower bumper
indent removed. The tail lights have been replaced with 65 Falcon in
handmade housings
Trunk lid:
Trunk has been smoothed and reshaped. The embossed VW letters are
actually letters taken from a VW Rabbit pickup just reversed in a new panel
Rear Bumper:
Bumper is the same unit as the front just sectioned differently with
handmade brackets
Rear Valance:
Made from another Jetta lower trunk panel just sectioned to fit. The
exhaust surround and frenched licence plate are all handmade
Interior:
So far the front seats are froma a maseratti 425i with the seat brackets
being mad fron MK2 seat bottoms and pieces from a Toro lawn mower

There is more to come but I hope that the above information gives you a little insite into my build and thought process. If there any questions I would be glad to answer them. Thanks for following along on this build.
