they are made for actual suspension not for beeing stup hard ;)

couldn't get large jets to do squat (richen it up). kept running lean even with 60F9s on a stock motor. that would be way rich on my motor which is stock minus the cams.

I scratched my head many times.

Just so you have this and not forget it.

swapping carbs:

1. Remove linkage pin from lower ball socket joint (little clip that hooks over that keeps the joints from seperating) do not be rough with the ball and socket joint. the ball will break easily.

2. Remove three screws that secure your top linkage to carb top (right carb)
3. Remove remaining two screws on right carb top and five screws from left carb (careful with the floats)
4. Move carb tops and top linkage out of the way

You can swap to the new floats from your new carbs at this time. adjust the float level.

5. Sop out remaining fuel form carbs
6. Remove the 8 nuts that hold the carbs to the manifold (do not lose the washers or spring washers if they have them
7. pull the carbs from the manifold studs (do not lose the gaskets and their rubber rings
8. You may need to remove the trumpets from the carbs to allow for clearance first
9. Decide which carb you want on which side.........shouldn't matter
10. Install the linkage (sync scew and idle screws) on the new carbs.
11. There are flanges that bend over the butterfly nuts that keep them from turning. bend them and remove the nuts and reinstall them.
12. Mount the gaskets and make sure the O-rings don't fall out of place
13. Slide the new carbs on and install the nuts (do not over tighten)
14. The sync linkage should be fitting together now. don't worry about adjusting yet
15. Install the tops from your old carb (chrome ones you moved out of the way)
16. install the top linkage that you moved out of the way.
17. Hook up the section of linkage from the old carbs to the lower linkage.
18. insert the clip that holds it on.

double check everything.

while you have your carb tops off, check the float level.


Bottom left is the DCOE. you have square floats but they are about the same

So the drillers broke the rods off at 100 meters and had to start the last hole again. I've been flying 8-10 hours a day and drinking like an alcoholic at night to stay sane.

Stufffing the carbs with blue cheese is not a break in procedure Paul. Keep the carbs from ingesting cheese and they should be fine.

sorry mang, but what don't you understand? just set it to like 12.5ish

when the float raises in the carb it will hit the ball on the valve. measure the distance. when the valve is depressed by the rising float, measure the distance. if the first of the two is off, bend the tab slightly to set it correctly.

yeah i redid the cams (again)
the biggest bitch today was the syncing of the carbs
the floats (BTW) were a bit off........
the idle screw linkage setup was a little diff that the other setup I had so I really had to crank down that idle screw to get it where I could sync them.

I feel bad that I turned down Ariel (owner of Perfect Metal Finishing) to get together tomorrow to detail the fuuuukk out of the 78 but she is running so poorly (took her for a spin a few mins ago - lean all out) that I didnt feel comfortable with him polishing my turd the way it was.

Hopefully things will go better tomorrow...and I cant actually focus on aesthetics like I always do.......pfft

well tonight we got the fuel cell fixed up, i spent a couple hours polishing/sanding it to make it look better, we got the new exhaust welded up, just needs some hangers and the tip changed

pretty much what's left is seats, door panels, b pillars, carpet, the vent for the fuel cell, paint the hood again, finish up the exhaust and a couple other little random things, i was there from like 5 till 12:30 tonight, i'm fuckin drained, got class at 9:30 tomorrow morning too :mad:

well, i was just there for about 2 hours, carpet it is in, b-pillars need wrapped, the door panels are almost done, he might repaint the hood, seats need to go in, and a bunch of little stuff needs done, he's takin a nap, murph had to go home for somethin and i got some hw that needs done... i'm probably gonna go back down and help till 12 or 1 and he's plannin on bein up till around 4... goal is to have it pretty much all done by 5pm tomorrow to the point that if anything just a few things need tightened up and cleaned. definitely doable :) if i go back down to help, i'll post up an update when i get home :thumbup:

we got it pretty much ready to go tonight :eek: :D the interior is pretty much 100% done, ryan needs to run to lowes tomorrow morning, which will be his test drive, to get some nuts and bolts to fasten the harness's to the car. everything is installed on the outside, a few spots need a little wet sanding and buffing, the license plate light cover needs installed and his s4 badges need put on. the engine bay is 98% complete, he's got to either re-do the rain tray covers or make a ecu cover and a mount for a reservoir... he's pretty much gonna get up a little early and get shit done, hopefully he doesn't need to do an alignment, if not he's leavin around ten or if he does he's gonna get shit done then probably leave with us around noonish

Its just too touristy for my ass. I am gonna keep looking.

Problem is ... I am at the point where I am still NOT able to do any work on the car..... and I dont know anyone in the area where the car is currently located to do any work on it. I am frustrated in regards to this issue as I was hoping I would have been able to do some work myself....thats not happening....
