Hi Marc!

Again I havent touched her since H20.

Planning on pulling the tranny and engine out the next time I get down to Philly - maybe in March (yes 1.5 months away).

Then I can get the shell out to CEPA to have aesthetic changes made.

Hopefully from there its just a matter of time before I get it put back together, finished & fine tuned.

Jens, -27C with the wind chill factor will make you change your mind about anywhere else being too damn hot. My parents are thinking about possibly retiring to the tampa area.. so it may work out in more than one way. Plus the gulf coast is supposedly much milder in regards to humidity, etc.. but we shall see :)

In regards to going to Norway/Germany/Austria in May, I have a few issues that I am trying to work out.. I will let you know come March...

Wow. I havent updated this thread in ages!

Me and Mikey Reed pulled the drive train from the 78 and now its all in pieces... car is still on jack stands and she is waiting for me to put some rollers on her and get her completely stripped.

So plans are:
-Ute gets KW v3's and frame notched. Fenders pulled and rolled & touched up by Mikey.
-Louise is getting gutted and stripped and once I get my new wheels (dont bother to ask I wont tell you :P) I will know in what other direction I need to go (strut tower modifications, engine lifted, axels & control arms shortened, etc...). Gonna try to get Mikey Reed to help out with the body stuff some more (underbody work) and in the meantime get the drive train all sorted and bulletproofed.

Hopefully she will be done for 2012. I am in no rush - as long as i can enjoy Ute ;)

2 months after this question was asked... I am waiting for the centers and will be painted shortly...

Meanwhile, The 1980 was dropped off at RMA Autobody for a complete respray. Needless to say I am not happy with the way some things had worked out as of late.

Atleast I picked up another MK1. This one is a 1977 Eastern Washington Rabbit with a sweet ass worked 16v swap..

Today I had a dream come true and finally tracked down the original owner of Ute.

Today I spoke with Ute, the original owner of this car. She is now in her 70's and is an owner of an automatic Jetta. She complained to me that to this day she still looks for the clutch pedal when she comes to a stop in her automatic car. She is still a German citizen but has lived in the US for over 50 years.

I asked her if she was OK with me naming the car after her; she laughed and said yes.

She thanked me for a perfect Sunday as German won FIFA and she learned about her car that she missed very dearly.

Today was a good day....
