The car will mostly be driven on the street. But an occasionly ¼ mile is done as well. So street/strip.
We’re not sure if we want a transbrake to be mounted in the transmission.
Can anyone tell me about the specific advantages of a transbrake?

So the next order will look like this:

TH400 streetfighter tranny,

TH400 slip yoke,

superstreetfighter Torque Converter.

allthough i don't have to pay shit, (it's not my car) i'm learning a lot just setting up the new engine.
My pall is from Surinam so you'll prob. know what kind of make it will be?

Yep, a '76 Pontiac trans am, painted black.

A trans brake reduces unsprung weight and rotating mass (only one inboard brake vs two as far out as possible). Which end is the trans brake on? Rear end? Or at the front? Im used to seeing them on the rear but Ive heard of them up front. Jsut keep in mind most of the vehicles stoppnig power is done at the front wheels.

if so, then this transbrake will be installed in the tranny. So i'm not sure what you mean by: "Which end is the trans brake on? Rear end? Or at the front?" we'll be bying at from TCI automotive parts. check http://www.tciauto.com/transmissions/ for details.
@Dutchman: he's loggedin, but not much. the kids fight over the pc, and mostly they win.

Ive seen them at the gear box end of the trannys as well as at the rear differential around here (we have ALOW of 4x4 trucks that use these as well as 'the good ol' boys in muscle cars) Some slow the tranny down (keep the rear brake system and leave it in gear to slow it) or at the rear differential (which will slow down the rear axle) That site doesnt seem to explain their system...But looks to be at hte gear box end. May be something different than what Im thinking. I dont know? e-mail their tech dept and see what they can give you on benefits.
