rear wipers - 95 golf gti

I recently got a 1995 golf GTI and i cant seem to find how you activate the rear wipers. Although ive tried about everything, can anyone tell me how to activate the rear wiper so i can know if my motor is dead or not.

You push the wiper stalk towards the dashbord. One push to turn on, another push to turn off again. Hold the switch to run the washer fluid pump.
