Default projekt -77 destruction derby

Hello, I saw that this forum is not as active as I would like it to be, so I decided to put out my projekt.. a old skool projekt of an 77 - derby.. when I bought it a year ago, it was in a poor condition due to the norwegian winters and all the f****** salt that is sprayed on the roads
this is how it looked when it arrived.

I also bought a 76 polo at the same time. this was actually in a slightly better condition.

the two cars in a lovely duett:

Welcome here! What are your plans with it? And do you also own the blue derby?

I soon started to dismalt the car and found out that the rust had had a big party here.. I totally had to weld ut the car, changing a lot of metal parts.

A couple of pictures of what happends to the car during this process, massive welding and hard work.

I soon found out that I had to change the front plate, so the hunt for a new one began.. I found one on german ebay, and after a lot of work i found a friend who could bring it up to norway, and the welding could start over again.

The car was now after a few months whitout rust and ready for modifications and some paint.

I had mounted at 80/60 lowering kit from triple s on tha car, something that did not harmonize with 15" wheels

also a bit about the two cars i had for parts, a 75 audi 50 and a 77 polo.. The derby i found in an old garage, the aidu in the back of a little forrest, where it had stood for about 20 years.. the most rusty car I have ever seen

luckily, PerL on this forum came and helped me with his quattro coupe.

stay tuned, much more to come within the next day or so, feel free to leave feedback..

well, the audi 50 is only for parts I'm not divine, something you would have to be to get that car up and running the red derby is the only one to hit the streets again.. the project i almost finished now, but it takes so much time to upload the pics to a server, so I post in turns

Ah.. Welcome, and WOW! going crazy on those rust-bangers!

Did you replace the whole frontpanel, or just the lower part of it? Love the blue color, and the state of the interior..

Looking good!
BTW: did you save the Audi50's chrome parts (side-windows)? if there still the old inox frames there certainly worth the effort of getting the car out of the forrest.

yes, I did get those, but my blue polo also had the inox frames.. my derby was platic though. used the audi lists on the derby.. the brown interior ended up in the red derby with leather seats from a usa rabbit.. looks wonderful

I know I did not have the time to do it, so i tried to sell it asking about 250 euros, but nobody wanted it, so I'll use it for parts... ran perfectly and no rust on it also.. after a wash:

what about the 'rain-gutters' ? black alu (old).. oh, no, it's an Audi..
it does have a square roof,. and a 'round' rear-hatch? (glass)?
and centre ventilation openings in the dash? (flat = old).

questions..

I have a weak (very) spot for old-details.. sorry

that is alright the rain gutters where in alu yes.. i mounted them on my derby, as there where only plastic there.. the rear hatch glass is similar to the polo one i think. But yes, the centre ventilation openings in the dash was flat without the structures that is on the polo and derby. The roof is similar to the polo, guarateed.. I think

This was in last august: A buddy of mine rang and said that he had found an golf gti rabbit with a leather interior on the scrapyard, so i git down there and bougt it.. I used the seats from the rabbit, and the carpet and doorsiden from the blue polo I have. The blue polo now have the black derby interior. I also build golf mk2 gti 239 brakes in the front. The intrior in the derby ended up quite well I think.

I welded the back lid, to get it clean and mounted an electric opener from the inside. also removed the hole for the antenna and other small things.

the car was ready for paint after a few weeks:
