no. It's a , what I call, small block..

VW has 2 types of watercooled engines: The 'backward' tillted: 1500cc to 2000cc (like the one in y'r yetta. I call it 'big block' :-) (with 021 gearbox etc)

And the 'small block' from 800cc to 1600cc.

the one in this polo is such a 'small block' with 16v head (dunno the type o head though). It has a cross flow head , and thus inlet in 'back' outlet in 'front'.

And the revs this little fella makes.. Auwtch!! It idles at a wonderfull 4000!

16v ??????? running single pulley somebody enlighten me (im used to ford engines im a bad bad person)

ford engines has two pylleys, byt vw dohc engines has a chain between the two cams in the back of the engine..
